Belle Of the Ball and Back Story 💜

Our newest endeavor was “Belle of the Ball”. This is where community members and members from other communities donated dresses, gowns, suites, shoes, ties and accessories to Silver Bells. Silver Bells distributed them to the community members. With a huge thank you to our local thrift shop: Nifty Thrifty, we were aboe to save our girls from all over the state at least $1,000 dollars on gowns and dresses for prom. It was such a huge success. We are still accepting donations of towns, dresses, suites, shoes, and accessories for next year's prom endeavor. We are also planning to continue to collect, save and distribute these items to people in need as they need them. These items were given to us by donation, so we are only asking for a small formation: whatever the family can afford. No dollar amount is too small. I once was a young girl who wanted to go to the prom. My family did not have the money. I was the second oldest out of nine and being my mom was disabled, our family was a one income household. We could not afford the extra expenses of prom, sports or any extracurricular. I had an amazing guidance counselor who lent me a dress so I could go. I remember the excitement. I was so so so excited... Until I got to prom to see these girls in hundreds of dollars worth of dresses, hair done, make up some etc. I remember crying in the bathroom for a bit. As I came out, the wonderful guidance counselor snapped a picture of me: in her dress, with a tear soaked face. Although I was so upset because of jealousy: I am humbled now because it made me who I am today and that is so incredibly thankful for the experiences I was given.
