Halloween Pageant and Parade

The Halloween Pageant and Parade:

What an amazing experience this was for everyone involved. This was our very first large endeavor which included a pageant followed by preparation in to the Rutland Vermont Halloween Parade. It took two no that to plan the pageant and another month and a half for the Halloween Float.

We had so much fun! The pageant consisted of the contestants developing a table top Halloween decoration, Halloween costume and also a gown that had to have fall colors like yellow, red, and golds. Each contest received not only a handmade trophy, but they also received a custom sash and hand selected crown. There were side awards like best smile, best attire, personality, photogenic and over all. Contestants are never judged on basis of having money, or not having money. They are never judged on the walk or stance. They are judged solely on the criteria, the fun they have, originality, creativity, and public speaking. Each contestant is asked a question on stage: one they get to pick to answer on stage in front of the audience. These questions vary from fun ones to very personal ones. Each contestant also gets a chance to present their own volunteer work, hours, and accomplishments to receive a presidential volunteer award.

The Halloween float was amazing. It was my children, the Markowski family, the Loso family and myself  who developed all of the decorations and put the float together. It truly looked fun, creative and just like a scene from the nightmare before Christmas. These decorations were all handmade. This was such an amazing experience for my children too. They learned patience, and persistence.
